Abstract
Among various factors, film festivals in Portugal seem to have a growing proximity to the country’s universities. Among a university audience that several festivals persist in capturing with diverse proposals and approaches at various levels, universities also integrate the structural plans of some of the Portuguese film festivals. Recurring appear to be competitions aimed at young university students, in what appears to be a consequence of the growth of higher education units where cinema and/or audiovisuals are taught. Voluntary student participation is also a very present form of participation, in addition to the integration of students into the organization itself of various events. The growing internationalization of national festivals has required special attention to language issues, demands that are placed both with the films and with the different participants of each event. The specificity of each festival, with a strong thematic choice inherent to each one, has brought together around the core film selections, diverse activities of training, dissemination, project preparation and others. These activities seem to have strengthened the connection to universities. The contexts of approximation and the language issues referred to are the support of the analysis that we explore in our communication.
