Abstract
With the aim of identifying the presence of art in the curriculum of the Degree in Child Education, Pedagogy and Dance at the Universidade Federal de Viçosa (Federal University of Viçosa), the present work observed the extension projects and initiation to teaching programs that provide contact with the arts and teacher training. With an exploratory and documentary profile, it presents a qualitative approach and uses the case study as methodology. Bearing in mind the training of the researcher as a future teacher through the Degree in Dance, as well as her participation in the Pedagogical Residency Program between August/2018 and January/2020, we consider her involvement with the field and object of study. Starting from the premise that art is a substantial and indispensable area of knowledge at school, the research problem involves questions arising from experiences during he graduation. From this perspective, her participation in the interdisciplinary art/pedagogy nucleus of the aforementioned teacher training program, culminated in the following research question: What are the necessary elements for teacher training to promote art in school?
