Abstract

This study’s content consists of a brief description of how the data were collected, followed by general conclusions that can be drawn about the US English Learner population. The study includes strategies that have been used with students throughout the school year. Some of these strategies include the use of children’s own cultural capital as a basis for learning. This approach involves finding out about family activities and work, and encouraging students to use this knowledge from home as a subject for reading and writing. This article will share teaching strategies of ideas for developing oral language and promoting home language use through the use of technology.
