Abstract

Theories on visual perception (top-down processing and bottom-up processing), neural processing of features, grouping principles, and “what and where” principles assist the human mind in not only perceiving things that surround people but also in understanding and appreciating design. This article attempts to merge the concepts of cognition in understanding the concept of camouflage military uniforms. A digital method of researching camouflage is attempted using luminosity masks. Experiments are conducted using two PNG files run in a software program. The results show how effective the camouflage patterns are against different backgrounds.
