Abstract

In the face of the new challenges inflicted by globalization, future generations need to be equipped with the capacity to think critically, creatively, and cooperatively. To do so, an ambitious approach to early-years education is needed to overtake the narrow definition of success as a matter of achievement. It is an approach that champions an education for a balanced “whole child” in its attempt to even out academic achievement with personal fulfillment. Motivated by an overview of the issues attendant to the Tunisian experience, the present article offers a rationale for the need to supplant all the incoherence plaguing this educational sector with the implementation of a vision for a balanced child. It thus illustrates the practicality of such vision through the case of foreign-languages awakening pedagogy.
