Abstract

Many Muslims in America and in other countries have experienced increased discrimination and violence from non-Muslims. This fear and hatred, termed “Islamophobia,” exhibits the characteristics of an epidemic as described by Gladwell (2002). Like an epidemic, fear and hatred against Muslims are spreading and growing at an alarming rate. This article addresses the phenomenon of Islamophobia and discusses ideas for social change through appreciative inquiry as exercised by organizations.
