Abstract

Children face a growing number of challenges in schools regarding their academic, physical, and psychological well-being. Stress and its associated factors are believed to be a primary cause for children having difficulty with both learning and their well-being. In recent years, a growing number of public health and medicine scholars have begun to evaluate the benefits, effectiveness, and efficacy of yoga for children in various school settings. This study specifically looks at how children learn better and become healthier at the Montessori, elementary, and middle school levels of education. Academic grades improved over time for children according to parents and school officials. Additional research did observe that adolescents improved their psychological well-being and rates of overweight/obesity decreased for children who practiced yoga. Overall, it seems that mindfulness-based activities such as yoga may assist children in learning in the classroom because they are more calm and find it easier to pay attention and complete tasks. Children also learn to become more mindful of their bodies and how to improve their own health in enjoyable ways.
