Abstract

First-year college students have difficulty with information literacy skills, or, skills associated with finding and using information. Because some of the difficulty comes from the complicated nature of navigating and comprehending texts that are disseminated electronically, instruction librarians at Brigham Young University created an online learning module that, in part, teaches e-reading skills. This article outlines the current research on how students engage with digital texts and traces the production and assessment of the e-reading tutorial that the librarians created.
