Abstract

The article focuses on the stakeholders and their perception in the Czech companies. Further, the article contains the results of research focused to find out the opinion view of the Czech companies on the problems of stakeholders and their influence on the performance and existence of a company. The term ‘company stakeholders’ relating to company practice didn’t appear in the Czech Republic until the 1990s. There is a limited number of publications dealing with the discussed issue in the Czech economic works. Company management and maintaining company long-term stability in difficult, imperfectly competitive and constantly changing conditions has been more and more demanding over the last years. There are many new factors able to influence and continuously disturb the company stability. One of these factors is the existence of groups both within and around the company, which, by pursuing its own interests, can to a certain extent influence the company behavior both in short-term and long-term. The objective of company management is thus to maintain the balance between the company and its surroundings, this is also the aim of company stakeholders. The objective of practical application of the theory of stakeholders is not to equalize the relationships of all concerned parties in companies. From the viewpoint of ownership rights this is barely possible. From the social development perspective; however, interests of all concerned parties in companies cannot be ignored.
