Abstract

This article reports on a study about climate literacy. University students pursuing eight different degrees within the branches of the social sciences and humanities at the University of Santiago de Compostela and the University of Granada were sent a questionnaire. Students signed a written consent form and 677 questionnaires were answered. The survey focused on the theory of social representations of climate change through a closed-type questionnaire and the results show that these students have an average level of knowledge about this topic. The results show that students of the social sciences and humanities have a lower level of literacy than students of the sciences or engineering, but in general, can be considered at a medium level of climate literacy compared to the national average in Spain.
