Abstract

The object of this study is to present a coherent theoretical framework for deepening in essence of sustainable design and reaching to an explanation for its constituent components in the field of rural environment. This study reviews the physical changes of villages and the act o improvement and localization that they caused by which there will be fewer damages to their local environment. It can also help the rural zones and the natural environment around them to reach a more sustainable structure. For achieving this object, first, the categories of “sustainable development“ and “sustainable ecotourism” have been studied. As the next step, with the outcomes of the studies and by reviewing the related particular literature of the subject, a model called “sustainable location“ has been recommended to codify a theoretical framework for the main items of rural sustainable design. For the final step, fundamental assumptions, strategies and plans related to the subject have been discussed and the qualitative pluralization of the results, based on functional, environmental and experimental–aesthetic items, has been done. In this context, imparting the theories, searches and approaches of the noble thinkers in the fields of architecture, landscape and urban design have been a guide to define the subject better.
