Abstract

A global analysis of the development of regional election research publications has been conducted. Therefore, this study aims to categorize themes or concepts related to regional election studies. Through descriptive analysis and the assistance of the Nvivo-12 software, 840 Scopus indexed articles were obtained, published by major publishers such as Emerald, MDPI, Sage, ScienceDirect, Springer, Taylor and Francis. The results showed 840 concepts in the regional election study, and they could be categorized into six groups. Furthermore, it is also related to dominant themes such as political, election, regional, parties, local, voting topics. The significance of this research is the discovery of a regional election study concept to help develop a conceptual framework in subsequent studies. While the limitation of this study is that the articles reviewed were only obtained from the Scopus database, they did not have comparable data. Consequently, future studies need to use a comparative analysis approach involving the Scopus database and the Web of Sciences (WoS).
