Abstract

Building on her earlier work integrating communication theory with Drama for Conflict Transformation (DCT), the author presents a new approach to excavating the cultural understructure of social conflict. She suggests several new techniques for adapting role-playing exercises and creativity theory as ethnographic tools, focusing on the normative influence of post-industrial tribalism on self-perception and its propulsive role in political tension. Some hands-on practice is included in the article.
