Abstract

In the article, I discuss the contemporary theoretical and literary views on realisms as one of the facets of the post-postmodern writing in the European (British) and Slavic literary processes. O. Tokarczuk’s Nobel lecture has determined the discussion about the parabolic pattern as an element of the new realistic tendency of the post-postmodern literary discourse. On the other hand, the contemporary British theorists underline that it is correct to speak about realisms in the contemporary literary discourse. Taking into consideration the theories of realisms represented in Slavic and British academic discourse, I have defined the features of the parabolic realism as a trend in contemporary Ukrainian literature. The findings and implications represented in S. Alexievich’s writings are also discussed in the article. The texts that appeared a few years ago in Ukraine (written by Mykola Zhulynskyi, Borys Fynkelshteyn, Olexander Korotko, and Larysa Zaleska Onyshkevych) have been outlined as examples of the parabolic realism and the specific epistemological patterns represented in the texts have been spotlighted.
