Abstract

This article focuses on one component of a larger study exploring the perceptions of people living with HIV in India. The article reports on the findings of a small investigation centreing on the experiences of a selected population of men who have sex with men (MSM) in India who are living with HIV. Two focus groups were facilitated with twenty-two MSM in Andhra Pradesh, India, to explore a range of challenges for men living with HIV within the Indian context. Qualitative data were analysed through descriptive qualitative content analysis. Findings emphasised the impacts of experiences of discrimination and marginalisation as well as the significance of the role of community support as a critical factor in enhancing the lives of HIV-affected MSM within India.
