Abstract

The globalisation process offers participants economic benefits which hold out potential entrepreneurial gains for countries. While the inter-continental benefits of globalisation are noteworthy, Africa’s youth it is contended, have not benefited. They have failed to benefit from this economic largesse and remain sceptical as to leveraging any entrepreneurial gains from the globalisation process. The abortive attempts by Africa’s youth to enjoy the benefits fo globalisation are explored. Their plight, despite African governments’ interventionist measures, is ventillated thoughout this paper. Comparative trends in entrepreneurial development highlighting disparities between Africa and Western countries are explored. The rationale for these disparities are interrogated. Although global institutions do encourage youths’ access to the benefits of globalisation, the reality is that Africa’s youth are frequently impeded in their entrepreneurial initiatives due to the dearth of basic facilities, services and opportunities, all of which remains a challenge to successfully leveraging potential entrepreneurial gains.
