Abstract

With the increasing number of Saudi Arabian scholarship students abroad, there is a need to conduct educational research on these students. The purpose of this study was to examine the differences between male and female Saudi scholarship students’ attitudes toward mathematics in the United States. Five scales of the Fennema-Sherman Mathematics Attitude Scales were used to measure the attitudes of forty-nine Saudi undergraduate students (25 females and 24 males). An independent sample t-test was used to analyze the data and to determine that there was not a statistically significant difference between male and female Saudi scholarship students’ attitudes toward mathematics in the United States; however, Saudi female students showed more positive attitudes than males.
