Abstract

This article is focused on the construction and validation of an instrument to identify the components of a vocational training path that young people choose and lead them to select a superior training cycle, which is a vocational training program. This training is the means by which students will build their professional future. The validity of the instrument has been carried out by the analysis of the data gathered from ninety-eight first-grade students of two superior training centres in Murcia, Spain. In order to achieve the intended objectives, three types of validity and reliability are considered: content-related validity by judgement of experts in the field applied to the literature regarding this topic, construct-related validity implemented by the use of an exploratory factor analysis, and reliability by Cronbach Alpha. The results obtained indicate that the instrument reached a high validity to identify these determinant components.
