Comparing Tenure and Promotion Policies on Creative Scholarsh ...
Abstract
Over the last decade, researchers have reviewed the acceptance of creative scholarship in textile and apparel design for tenure and promotion in a specific group of public institutions of higher education in the United States. In a recent study, researchers gathered data from textile and apparel design faculty in the United States to determine whether acceptance of creative scholarship for tenure and promotion had changed at their institutions. Positive and negative changes have been made in relation to creative scholarship. Are the policy changes reflected in both public and private institutions of higher education? This research compares tenure and promotion documents of public and private institutions of higher education with departments of textile and/or apparel design across the United States to determine if differences exist.
