Abstract

Chizar is a village located on the north side of Tehran and bounded to the Qheitariyeh hills from one side. Chizar is a historical district which holds identity in Tehran, the capital of Iran. This fertile land holds two main religious shrines which annually brings forth a great amount of pilgrims and visitors. Due to its religious and national stories, Chizar is considered as holding a sacred identity. In the late years, due to the expansion of city borders, many old villages have been ingurgitated within the limits of this megapolis and limited to community centers. In the following article, Chizar has been studied with methods such as documentary studies, observation, and mostly field study, in an attempt to identify the obstacles and potentials of this area as to empower it as an active community center once again.
