Abstract

Thai-Raman local earth-ware in central Thailand is accepted as an important cultural fund for Thai economic and social development. This research aimed to study the Thai-Raman indigenous local earth-ware in central Thailand and develop local earth-ware production and cultural art management for the creative economy. Data were collected by means of interview, observation, focus group discussion, and workshop. The research results revealed that the Thai-Raman indigenous local earth-ware in central Thailand was the accumulation of inherited indigenous knowledge and competency in earth-ware modeling, carving, and burning. The indigenous earth-ware is a soft yellow color. Four procedures in the creation of this handicraft are clay preparation, molding, carving and decorating, and burning. The problems and needs of the Thai-Raman indigenous local earth-ware production and management are in production, marketing, and management. To develop local earth-ware production and cultural art management for the creative economy, focus should be on development of creative Thai identity with added cultural value. There are nine steps in the suggested development procedure: marketing study, productive competency study, selecting targeted products, producing and marketing planning, making creative design and production, quality and value monitoring and pricing, performing market and sales, evaluating and learning, and improving. By these production and management guidelines, Thai-Raman local earth-ware in Central Thailand will be a well-known and important social and cultural fund and take a real role in Thai economic and social development.
