Abstract

The process is one of gathering traditionally shot footage, then reducing it to the single element of the still. Then drawing and painting atop this still, only to re- capture it to sequence it back to footage. So should this a series of drawings and paintings that just happen to viewed sequentially, be viewed in a theater even though it isn’t intended to the mass audience, or should it be observed in a museum or gallery with its cousins of like subject matter. This paper discusses the process of the creations of two films: Eve as a Young Girl, a mixed media, animated film, and Icarus, an experimental video and animation film. And the quandary of what venues work of this nature should be utilized.
