Abstract

College students (n = 380) of De La Salle University–Dasmariñas, a dark green university in the Philippines, were surveyed to reveal their attitude and participation to the waste segregation policy in campus. The survey also solicited student views on how their support of the policy can be further enjoined. The study reveals that the environmental education received through various programs and their positive attitude do not translate to pro-environmental behavior. From a given list of options that could effectively make them regularly practice waste segregation, respondents ranked as top priority the simplified labels of trash bins, followed by creative means of encouragement, more information, and enforcing punishment for non-compliance.
