Abstract

This article deals with dialogue as an ethical situation, as conceptualized by Buber and Levinas. Through this method, man can practice the art of criticism that is conducive to human progress. The intergenerational dialogue of young and old generates wisdom and truth in accelerated form owing to the symmetry of generations and their propulsive orientation. In old age, there are special competencies for this, which are anthropologically based and sparked by youth. In this regard, creativity plays a central role. Using practical examples of dialogues and polylogues and theoretical considerations, the article provides a basis for the creative criticism potential of the old person and ends with an outlook on the society of the future. In this context, the concept of a gerontological developmental niche is adopted.
