Abstract

Reward options are important ways to recognize and reinforce the ability of individuals to build upon short- or long-term goals in order to achieve the evaluation vision. When establishing reward options, it is important to assess individual contributions, in addition to the achievement of everyone as a collective, so every individual can feel useful, valued, and motivated. Letting people know that they will be assessed for their individual efforts is crucial to group motivation (Clark, 2003). By clearly understanding everyone’s personal needs and values it is possible to motivate them in an effective individualized way. Reward options may promote desired behavior, and the extent to which a reward is motivating depends on how it is perceived and how it connects to the particular evaluation accomplishment. Thus it is necessary to develop reward options that meet everyone’s needs while having positive impact on the commitment within the collaborative effort.
